Plan B SJD Peterson
I wasn't really sure I would enjoy this book as I was nervous about the character of Danny, as I am not much into make-up wearing, feminine men. I shouldn't have worried, Danny was a fabulous character! I loved his flamboyant nature and his honesty. Lance, on the other hand, took a while to grow on me due to his behaviour when he first met Danny.
The story is a wonderful evolution of feelings, one man coming to terms with his sexuality and the other realising his sexual attraction to the other is actually more. However love isn't enough, as each man realises that the other doesn't really fit into their view of what they want their life to be like. Danny wants to be out and proud. Lance wants to protect his chances at an NFL career.
I should have realised from the blurb but I got a shock at the 78% mark when something (not saying what as it's a bit of a spoiler) happened. Thank goodness they had their happy ever after with true romantic gestures!
I loved Plan B. This book was really well written and had just the right amount of sweet and sexy and angst. The chemistry between Danny and Lance was most definitely there. Danny was kind of a push over there for a while but thankfully came to his senses. I would have liked to know a little more about what went on in Lance's life after college. All in all though, I was happy with the way it ended. 4 1/2 stars
BalasHapusOh, I loved Danny! He is so sweet, strong, and secure. Then there is Lance... a football jock if there ever was one. Didn't really love him, I think he was using Danny a bit, well more than a bit I guess! Anyway, great characters, great college story, great writing, and a great ending!

I loved Danny in this book he was so strong and loving, yet never once let him self be pushed around.He was always going to be himself with no apologies. I guess most of it was from coming from such a loving home and accepting parents. If I could ever model myself on some one I want to be Danny.Don't get me wrong I loved Lance also, but you see the Lance character in books alot. The closeted hunk who really loves a guy, but there is just too much to give up to be with them.Danny understood this ,but never once thought about sneaking around just to stay with Lance. He had his own dreams and no matter how much it hurt he was NEVER going to be someones secret. Like I said so strong even when it hurt so much!!! Well these boys do get their HEA , but it is a long haul getting there. Which just makes it all that sweeter. Over 3000 locations, and one flamboyant,snarky and strong character that I will never forget.
BalasHapusPerhaps the "Plan A" didn't work out, but "PLAN B" is a great and enjoyable story that touches on one of my favorite topics in gay literature, the effeminate aspect of a guy, and how that fits and doesn't fit into the world of everyday expectations. So beautiful a person as Danny and so gifted, a marvel, a delight! Sjd Peterson's presentation made me laugh and cry. I like her work in general, but this is to become one of my favorites of all time. I was totally absorbed by the story world and lived for a time in another place with these amazing characters.
BalasHapusThis story allows you to pay attention to the subtleties of an early relationship, discovery, exploring not just the main sexual event, but all the smaller things that feed our sexual and emotional appetites. It also presents the reader with very real dilemmas. Relationships are hard enough as it is, throw in having to hide who you are, from your friends, family, and world at large. This story is also about discovering what truly makes you happy and having the guts to reach for it, or not.
BalasHapusVery believable characters, familiar scenery, I could feel this relationship building and the passionate and torturous events throughout, like it was my own, because this writer is truly gifted with the power of words.
Read Plan B!!! You are sure to add it to the keeper shelf to read again!
Loved absolutely everything about this book, except it ended. Well written book, great characters, the emotional level was intense without being too dramatic and the sex scenes HOT HOT HOT.
